IBI OWOLABI

Ibi Owolabi Is a director and collaborator focused on creating theatre that illuminates through unconventional connection. She is the 2022 recipient of the Drama League Stage Directing Fellowship, which, among several new experiences for the next two years, includes her Broadway debut, Cost of Living at Manhattan Theatre Club, October 2022. She has spent most of the pandemic working both virtually and safely distanced on all sorts of productions, with one of her biggest recent feats being a socially distanced production of You On the Moors Now at the University of South Carolina, followed closely by The Bluest Eye at Synchronicity Theatre In Atlanta, Georgia.

Ibi graduated from Georgia Southern In 2015 with a Theatre degree and directing concentration. She went on to the Actor's Express Directing Internship, and then became the Kenny Leon Fellow at the Alliance Theatre In the same year. During her tenure, she solidified her love of new works by working closely on the Kendeda festival with new playwrights and established directors. She continues to direct as much new work as possible, Including 15 new plays in various stages of development over zoom in our isolated years.

Ibi Is a current producer for the Weird Sisters Theatre Project, a collective creating work by women and femmes, for everyone. She was named a C4 Leading lady, and 20 of 2020 by ArtsATL.
